Robert L. LaBorde LOUISIANA TRAPSHOOTING HALL OF FAME 2009 INDUCTEE Robert LaBorde was born in Shreveport, La., on December 24, 1955. He received a B.S. degree in Professional Aviation from Louisiana Tech in 1980. He started working in the family business —Continental Drilling & Service, Inc. — in June, 1973 after graduating from Captain Shreve High School. He married his best friend, Robin Hollingsworth in Hawaii in November of 1989. They have two children and five grandchildren that they adore. He and his four brothers purchased nine companies from their parents in 1985 and both parents remain active in the businesses to this day. Robert’s hobbies include trapshooting and traveling in his motor home and tuning his Mazda Miata that has a 480 HP Corvette motor in it. He shot his first registered target at the Shreveport Gun Club in 1985. Recently, he had accumulated 50,450 singles, 39,750 handicap, and 29,250 doubles. Robert has attended important shoots in several states in the region, as well as has been a frequent contestant at the Grand American. In 2009, he received his 25 year patch at the Grand American. Robert has given back to the sport in many ways. For seven years, he was responsible for obtaining the state shoot trophies, three years responsible for the program, and was the La. ATA delegate for four years. He was manager of the Shreveport Gun Club for 2 1/2 years in the mid-90’s. He likes to encourage young folks whenever possible, and was instrumental at getting the target price reduced to half price for them. For the past three years, he has run the shoots held at Red Chute Shotgun Sports Club. Robert has a room full of awards to his credit. From Louisiana, in singles he has won one Champion, four R/U’s, three AA’s, and two B’s. In doubles, he has won three Championships, four R/U’s, seven AA’s, a B and a D. He has also won three HAA, two HOA and a fifth place in handicap. Robert has won four trophies from the Grand American and he considers the best trophy to be all the wonderful friends that he and Robin have made over the years in trapshooting.
