BRADFORD W. INGALLS LOUISIANA TRAPSHOOTING HALL OF FAME 2003 INDUCTEE “A pretty good shot for a country boy.” Most of the trapshooters in Louisiana know him as “Mr. Brad”. Mr. Brad has been instrumental in promoting trapshooting in Louisiana for over fifty years; helping to establish gun clubs, repairing traps and shotguns, and encouraging new shooters to take up the sport. Mr. Brad started shooting with his Father at the age of ten in Vermont where he won the Vermont Junior Skeet Championship in 1935, 1936, and 1937. After spending several years in the Navy, Mr. Brad went to work for Winchester in New Haven, Ct., and was made the sales representative for Louisiana and Mississippi. As a company rep, he helped clubs organize shoots, repaired traps and Winchester guns. Horace Bankston invited Mr. Brad to Shreveport in the early 1950’s where he laid out the first four trap fields. When Winchester pulled their field reps, Mr. Brad stayed in Baton Rouge and opened a gun shop, and performed gunsmithing for the local shooting enthusiasts. Mr. Brad shot in many of the local gun clubs such as Natchez, Buras, Shreveport, New Orleans, and Baton Rouge. An auto accident and a bout with cancer could not diminish his desire to smoke the targets. His love for the sport was easily recognized by all the shooters. Mr. Brad always exhibited good sportsmanship, spoke words of encouragement, and was the first to congratulate a good score. LTA Hall of Fame Committee May 2, 2003
